DREAMING OF PALM SPRINGS

I recently had an amazing stay in Palm Springs whilst attending Coachella back in April. We stayed in an Airbnb that exceeded all of our expectations. After arriving and spending approximately an hour of exploring every corner, opening every cupboard and pointing out every flamingo themed thing in the place, the only thing left to do was have a photoshoot of course!

I wanted to show this suuuper pretty maxi playsuit (no idea if that's what they're actually called, but it works for me) that I had purchased from Forever 21 as one of my first Coachella buys. I didn't end up wearing it to the festival as the long sleeves were a little restricting and I definitely would've been too warm in it but I'm still obsessed with how it looks.

The playsuit is from the brand Selfie Leslie which I'd never heard of before but it's a gorgeous silky material and is actually still available on Forever 21 here! It's still on sale too which is a bonus!

My Top Everyday Lipsticks

I recently made a YouTube video where I showed my top six favourite lipsticks for everyday wear and I wanted to go into a bit more detail about them here! Although some would say these six shades are very similar (they are, I will admit!), they all have something different to them which makes me love them. So here it goes, in no particular order, of course.

1. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London
I love the formula of this lipstick so much! As the name states, it's creamy and velvety and doesn't dry up on your lips like a lot of matte lipsticks do these days. This shade is probably the most 'nude' one out of all of these, it goes perfect with absolutely anything!

2. Too Faced Melted Liquified lipstick in Nude
The formula of this lipstick is very similar to the NYX one in that it's very creamy and doesn't dry out your lips but definitely drys down a lot more. The shade of this one is a lovely peachy light nude and I usually stay clear of orange toned lipsticks but this one seems to suit me quite well! I do find this lipstick doesn't stay on for as long as some others that I have but it's never really been a deal breaker as I love the colour and formula too much.

3. Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker lipstick in Cinnamon Beige
I won't lie, the name of this lipstick was part of the reason I purchased it but I do also really like the colour and formula! This colour is very similar to the London NYX shade although slightly darker. I love this one mostly as I'm a big fan of traditional lipsticks, they're easy to apply whenever needed and just feel nice on your lips! This is a matte shade and doesn't really last very long, you'll need to reapply after eating or drinking but it keeps my lips feeling moisturised and that's all I could really ask from a matte lipstick!

4. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm
As mentioned above, I love the formula of this lipstick and this colour is just gorgeous! It's more pink toned than the London shade but again I feel like I can throw this on with anything and it pulls everything together.

5. MAC Satin Lipstick in Brave
This lipstick is the oldest of the bunch but definitely not one to be forgotten! MAC's satin lipsticks are probably one of my favourite formulas I've ever tried. It's not completely matte but also not overly shiny, it's the perfect in between. It's pretty long wearing and doesn't dry out your lips at all. This is definitely and always will be my perfect 'my lips but better' shade.

6. NYX Lip Lingerie liquid lipstick in Push Up
The formula of this lipstick is definitely my least favourite of the bunch but one of the most long wearing so you just have to pick your battles with this one! When I first tried this lipstick on I thought I was going to hate it as it really dries out your lips as it's drying but once it's dry it feels a lot nicer, which is very strange to me! The colour of this one is definitely more of a brownish pink (if that makes any sense) but I really like it for that little pop of colour that isn't too in your face.

So there you have it, my top six everyday lipsticks! If you're interested in seeing how these apply and look on the lips then feel free to watch my video below! Let me know in the comments below what your favourite everyday lipsticks are and if we have any of the same!

NAILS // My Experience with Gel Nails

My sister has been getting shellac nails done for a while now and I always thought it looked amazing, so last month she took me to get mine done for my birthday. Just the gel polish, I'm not a big fan of acrylic/false nails! (Apologies for the rubbish pictures, I wasn't planning on doing a post about this so never took any good ones with my camera!)

I was super happy with the result of my gel nails, they're so shiny and really strengthen your nails, it was just the removal process that really made me rethink whether I wanted to get them done again. Also, the 'nail regrowth' after about 2 weeks really doesn't look the best...

All in all, it took me around 2 hours to remove the gel nails. I had to alternate between soaking them in nail polish remover and a gel remover oil, I then had to basically scrape the gel polish off and for someone who hates the feeling of even filing my nails, it wasn't the nicest process for me.

The one major upside to having gel nails (other than having perfect looking nails for 2 weeks straight) was none of my nails broke at all! I love having long nails and constantly have to cut them down and grow them out again when one breaks so I think having gel nails really gave them strength whilst I was growing them and now they're at a perfect length! I'm being very careful with them though, as apparently the removal of gel polish takes off the top layer of your actual nail, so I'm very conscious of my nails being weaker now.

I'm still umming and ahing on whether I'd get them done again, but at the moment I miss all the new polishes I got in England in April so I'm actually excited to be able to paint my nails again!

Have you ever had shellac/gel nails or would you like to try it out? Lets have a chat in the comments!

VIDEO // Get Ready With Me

Long time no see (post?)! I haven't had my camera for a while since coming back from England a couple months ago so I couldn't make any posts and I really want to get stuck into doing YouTube more now so the first thing I did after being able to use my camera was film this. Here is a Get Ready With Me with makeup, hair and an outfit from when I went to the theatre to see Annie!

I'd love if you'd give it a watch and let me know what you think, I'm gonna try and get into posting a video once a week so we'll see how that goes!

REVIEW // Maybelline Flash Clean Express

I've had this product for over a year now and I love it so much I had to do a review on it! It's a 3-in-1 makeup remover that claims to remove, cleanse and moisturize.

It's amazing at removing stubborn makeup, especially Benefit's They're Real mascara which I find difficult to remove without this product. It's a very creamy consistency that turns into a sort of liquid when applied to the skin. It doesn't have any fragrance to it which I really like as sometimes fragrances in these sort of products can irritate the skin.

This product claims to use an exclusive 'Quick-Break Technology' to transform the lotion into a liquid to remove the makeup and is infused with Moringa Seed extract to purify and cleanse the skin. It then moisturizes as it cleans. I haven't used this product continuously enough to test whether it really does work as a cleanser and moisturizer too.

I don't use this an awful lot as there are a few downsides to it. I find that you have to remove with a wet towel or baby wipe otherwise it'll leave your skin feeling a little sticky, and although it claims it's for sensitive skin and can be used on the eyes, I find that it stings my eyes quite a bit. I only really use this product when I want to remove makeup quickly due to these reasons but other than that I love how well this works when I need it!

Have any of you tried this product? What do you think of it? What's your favourite makeup remover? Let me know in the comments!

VIDEO // Top 5 Beginners Beauty Tips

So I haven't posted in a while because I've been working on something...my YouTube channel!

I finally got around to filming and uploading my first (if we don't count the Miley Cyrus music videos I did when I was 11...) video and I'm so excited! It's a little rough and jumpy and the lighting changes a lot as I was using natural lighting but hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere, right?

I'd appreciate it so so much if you'd watch my video and maybe even share it to someone you might think would like to watch it. Leave me a comment below if you did and your thoughts on the video, and if you have a YouTube channel too, link me and I'll definitely check it out!

Do you think I should do more videos or stick to just blogging?

HAIR // Queen Elsa Braid

Frozen Queen Elsa Milkmaid Braid

Frozen Queen Elsa Milkmaid Braid

...Or as most people know it, the 'milkmaid braid'.

Ask me to do any kind of braid on your hair and I'll most likely be able to do it, but ask me to do it on my own hair and I wont be able to. I just can't grasp the concept of doing it all backwards on your own head, haha. So, I was down in my sisters room today when I was trying out the only way I knew of doing this hair style, by plaiting your hair on each side and clipping them up on top of your head.

It looked a little silly and my sister suggested a way she'd watched a video about it, where you just do one continuous external braid from one side of the head to the other and then clip the remaining hair under where you started to make it look like a circle. I absolutely love this, so props to my sister, Elle, for doing this for me today. She has the same style blog as me so check it out!

This hair style reminds me of Queen Elsa from Frozen (hence the title) and I even tried on a tiara today when we were shopping and it looked so cute. If only I still had white blonde hair like Elsa does in the film!
